Perfect Wedding Guide Integrates Social Optimization with Wedding Vendor Profiles – Virtual

PWG advertisers are now able to access vendor profile dashboards with the use of social login

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) May 24, 2012

Perfect Wedding Guide continues to raise the bar for connecting today’s tech-savvy brides with wedding professionals. Recently the wedding planning site added a social login component which will allow PWG advertisers to use their social networking accounts to log in and access their vendor dashboards. To initiate social login, vendors will be required to link their PWG account to their social networking identity (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

Social login will set the stage for automatically broadcasting a vendor’s activities on pwg.com to all the popular social networking sites. For example, if a vendor adds a photo, a video, or a wedding deal to their online profile, these details will be published to their social networking account of choice for all their fans, friends, and followers to see. Each vendor activity that is published represents a new link back to the website.

Some of the benefits of social login include eliminating the need for wedding vendors to remember a separate pwg.com username and password; creates the foundation for social marketing by publishing vendor updates to social networking sites; and increases unique visits by effortlessly building backlinks to pwg.com

The social login option is just another way Perfect Wedding Guide is looking toward the future with a social media focus. Just one year ago, the site added a number of upgraded features to vendor listings, including social links, promotional deals, vendor FAQs, video and more.

To learn about advertising opportunities on the national or local level, contact Perfect Wedding Guide at 1.888.222.7433 or email advertise(at)pwg(dot)com.

Tornadoes didn’t stop Kansas couple from marrying

Ohio University, the University of Dayton and University of Toledo will join four other
Ohio colleges this year to help train math and science teachers to work in hard-to-staff schools
throughout the state.

Chancellor Jim Petro announced this morning that 92 recent graduates and
professionals have been selected to participate in the Woodrow Wilson Teaching Fellowship
program at seven colleges throughout the state. The other schools are John Carroll University, Ohio
State University, the University of Akron and University of Cincinnati.

The fellowship program helps train recent graduates and career changers in science, technology,
engineering, math and medicine (the STEMM fields) to teach in the state’s rural and urban schools.
The fellows include an archeologist, former college professor, former village mayor and
former TV meteorologist.

Two years ago, President Barack Obama announced that fellowship program, which was started
in Indiana in 2007, would be expanding to Michigan and Ohio. The Woodrow Wilson Foundation is in
talks with five other starts to possibly start up similar programs.

Tattoo offers four themes and onstage nuptials

The 2012 Royal International Tattoo has four themes and a wedding.

Former Haligonian and choir member Stacia Findley, now living in Germany, will marry her Tattoo sweetheart, former German band member Carsten Borkert, on July 7 as part of the matinee’s pre-show.

The couple met at the Tattoo and asked to be married at the event. Over 6,000 people will see them exchange vows in a ceremony officiated by Tattoo chaplain Rev. Robert Chapman. The choir and this year’s participating German band, Heeresmusikkorps I from Hannover, are providing the music.

“This is one of the many love stories that have happened at the Tattoo,” marketing manager Leah Whitehead said at Wednesday’s launch at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.

The four themes for the Tattoo, July 1 to 9 in the Halifax Metro Centre, are the annual theme of “the bond of friendship” and three sub-themes of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.

The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be celebrated in music while the War of 1812 and the Titanic will feature music and historically accurate tableaux, Whitehead said, with a look at Halifax’s Grand Parade in July 1812.

The Titanic portion includes a medley of Nearer My God to Thee and the ragtime song Autumn, both of which are considered to be among the final tunes the band played as the ship went down. There will also be a performance of Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On from the James Cameron movie Titanic.

Returning after a 12-year absence is the gun race of the Royal Canadian Navy, which used to be called the gun run. Two teams each move a gun, weighing over 1,000 pounds, through and over obstacles on the Metro Centre’s floor.

“Rehearsals are already underway,” Whitehead said.

Coming back are the Flying Grandpas of the Hamburg Police, the European trampoline champions who are the most-requested act by the Tattoo’s audience.

The Swiss Army Central Band, comprised of 75 musicians, makes its North American debut at the Tattoo.

Last year, the Tattoo had an overall economic impact in Nova Scotia of $41.1 million, Whitehead said. The meal voucher program alone brings in $220,000 to local restaurants every year.

Bryan Lacey wedding video: Groom has bride and guests in stitches with witty …

When Bryan Lacey stood up to give his groom’s speech at his wedding to Hannah Brown, everyone was expecting the usual list of thank yous and a tear-jerking recollection of how he met his bride.

But the professional stand-up comedian had other ideas about how to declare his undying love.

The 32-year-old took to the stage to perform an ode to his new wife – in which he promises to love her until she is old and grey, needs a Stannah stairlift, zimmer frame and bladder control pants.

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE VIDEO

The ditty, which had the guests at the reception in fits of laughter, continues by outlining his many faults including his hairy chest, penchant for pies and the fact he dribbles and snores in bed.

A video of the song has now been uploaded on social networking sites and has already been reposted hundreds of times.

One guest at the reception at Coworth Park Hotel in Berkshire said: ‘Typically the groom’s speech is the most dull but this one outshone the best man. It was a little bit cheeky and packed full of innuendo.

‘The bride was in tears but I’m not sure if she was crying with laughter or just overwhelmed by the effort he had put in.’

Mr Lacey, who has gigged alongside established comedians Dara O’Briain and Milton Jones, said: ‘Judging from the reception, clearly my songs are funnier than my stand-up is so I might pick up my guitar on stage a bit more often.

‘The wedding was fantastic but watching Hannah’s face when I stepped up was the highlight. Our 50 guests were whooping and cheering. Luckily for me there were no other comedians in the crowd to upstage or heckle me.’

The couple met three years ago when Hannah, 36, a talent scout, came along to watch him perform.

Mr Lacey, from Farnham, Guildford, said: ‘It was right when I was getting started on the circuit and there were only six people in the audience.

‘I was feeling pretty deflated with the whole thing until I saw her. She even laughed at one of my jokes so that helped too.’

He proposed on the top of the Empire State Building two years later with the couple tying the knot at Coworth Park Hotel on the same day that Princes William and Harry were taking part in the Coworth Park charity polo match, watched by Kate Middleton.

A host of other stars were also staying at the venue over the wedding weekend – with actor Russell Crowe sharing a drink with the couple at the bar on their wedding night and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie offering their congratulations at breakfast.

Mr Lacey said: ‘Talk about stealing my thunder. I was hoping to be the only man my wife had eyes for but its pretty hard to compete with Brad and Russ.’

The couple are now on honeymoon in the Bahamas but return next week to the house they share with dog, a British Bulldog cross called Lola.

Mr Lacey said he couldn’t believe the response to the video of his groom’s speech, posted by his brother-in-law.

‘I wrote it in secret when I took the dog for long walks,’ he said. ‘It was supposed to be a love song and a bit soppy but ended up being a little bit rude.’

The lyrics conclude: ‘I’m punching well above my weight but now the ring is on your finger there is no getting away.’

A wedding shower in honor of Cyndee Shivers, Bride-elect of Blake Williams, was held at the lovely home of Susan Simmons in Dayton,  Sat/, May.

Guests were greeted by a banner with the happy couples names and wedding date adorning the front walk.

A fabulous luncheon of various salads; including chicken salad, seafood salad, watermelon tossed with feta cheese, and a fresh green salad with strawberry vinaigrette, setting a “Summer Wedding Theme,” was enjoyed by all.

Dessert included amaretto cheese cake and a delightful blueberry lemon cake and was accompanied by champagne punch.

All the food prepared and served by hostesses Susan Simmons, Linda Carlisle and Nancy Lumpkins.

A special guest was long time friend of the groom’s family, Mrs. Linda Doering of Humble.

A July Wedding is planned, followed by a honeymoon in Hawaii.

Will Priscilla Chan be the Next Kate Middleton of Wedding Trends?

Priscilla Chan knew the man she was marrying would soon be worth billions of dollars but when it came to planning her dream day the now Mrs. Mark Zuckerberg took a decidedly low-key approach.

For one, Chan, a 27-year-old Massachusetts native who has dated the Facebook founder since their undergraduate days at Harvard, chose a wedding gown that costs less than what her new husband likely makes in one hour.

The bride walked down the aisle Saturday, just one day after her husband’s company went public and his wealth soared to $19 billion, in a $4,700 dress by designer Claire Pettibone.

The designer discovered that Facebook’s first lady wore her dress, featuring a floral sequin-covered overlay, sheer back, and chapel-length train, only after her husband saw a photo of the couple online.

“My husband started reviewing what happened during the day on his tablet and he looked at the picture…and he’s like, ‘Honey, the bride…she’s wearing your dress,” Pettibone told “Good Morning America.”  “We were just stunned.”

Pettibone had no idea that Chan had chosen her ivory, “Sky Between the Branches” gown because Chan used a fake last name to purchase the dress off-the-rack.  The designer and her team searched every shipment they had made of the dress in the last 12 months in order to find where Chan purchased her gown.

“We checked and the Little White Dress Bridal Shop in Denver, Colo., had it and we looked at the order and it was Priscilla with a different last name but the wedding date, May 19, and we thought that’s got to be it,” she said.  “They [store employees] had no idea who she was.  They thought she was just sweet and nice and lovely.”

Pettibone, who described the dress as sexy but elegant and understated, says she is still overwhelmed that Chan chose her design, and guesses the famous bride could be America’s version of Kate Middleton, referring to the famous royal newlywed who set off a flurry for her wedding dress after she wed Prince William last April.

“I think this is something that every designer dreams of and talks about over the years…it would be really great to get a high-profile celebrity, but wow,” Pettibone   “I still don’t understand the whole impact of it.”

“I think it’ll definitely go up in popularity after this,” she said of the dress, which first debuted on the New York runways in October 2010.

Also surprised by the couple were their 100 guests who thought they were at Zuckerberg and Chan’s Palo Alto, Calif., home to celebrate Chan’s recent graduation from the University of California San Francisco medical school, where she has been studying to be a pediatrician.

“It had that low-key feel,” Jen Garcia, senior write for People magazine told “GMA.”  “It was traditional.  It was rustic.  They had these great twinkling lights but it was candle-lit and there were very few flowers.”

Chan walked down the aisle to Zuckerberg, 28, with her fluffy sheep dog, Beast, and the couple recited their own vows, reportedly grinning the entire time.

Also low-key is the engagement ring Chan has been spotted wearing, a simple ruby reportedly designed by Zuckerberg himself.

“You would expect her to have this huge, 20-carat sparkler,” Garcia said.  “The ring itself just speaks to the couple. It’s very modest.”

The wedding feast came from the couple’s favorite Palo Alto restaurants, Palo Alto Sol and Fuki Sushi, and for desert they had Burdick Chocolate “mice,” which Chan and Zuckerberg had on their first date.

The couple had dated for nine years before tying the knot.

ABC News’ Dean Schabner and Alyssa Newcomb contributed to this report.

My big, fat, bargain wedding: Entertainment

My big, fat, bargain wedding: Venues | Food | Combining finances | The dress

This is the fourth part of a series on wedding planning on a reasonable budget. I hope you will join me on this journey of orchestrating the ideal wedding — without overspending.

Since my fiancé and I met dancing, the wedding reception is a priority for us. We love cutting a rug, and although we probably won’t remember insignificant details of our wedding (like chair covers), I know we’ll remember the music.

I had originally ignored the idea of a live band at our reception, because I’m working within a below-average budget. But I realized a few months into planning that I’m actually friends with a guy in a local swing band. Would they give me a discounted rate?

I lucked out — or rather, my friend and his band are very generous. Although it’s still a significant expense, I’m paying the “friends and family” rate for my ideal wedding band.

Looking back, I should have started the wedding-planning processby asking anyone and everyone for help. But it’s easy to get swept up in that first wave of excitement, forgetting that sometimes the best solutions are the simplest. Forgo that expensive calligrapher and use your friend with an art degree.

I wrote a story last year, Say ‘less!’ to the dress, in which local brides used their connections to find great discounts on venues, wedding invitations, music, videography and other parts of the wedding. It can be simple once you sit down and think about the skills your friends possess.

Muster up the guts to ask — the worst someone can say is “no.”

Did you ask friends to help with your wedding? Which connections saved you the most money?

Percent of budget spent so far: 50

Coming next: Mini-moons and other money-saving trends

Top Five Diamond Jewelry Designs

Anjolee, a leading fine jewelry manufacturer provides a list of the top five jewelry designs based on popular and highly rated designs. All of these diamond jewelry styles are available on http://www.anjolee.com.

(PRWEB) May 23, 2012

Anjolee, a leading fine jewelry manufacturer provides a list of the top five jewelry designs based on popular and highly rated designs. Whether it is wedding and bridal jewelry, diamond pendants, necklaces, bracelets or earrings, Anjolee can custom build any design based on taste and budget. All designs are offered in any metal type; 10k, 14k, 18k white or yellow gold or platinum and choice of carat sizes, diamond quality and size or length. There are thousands of diamond jewelry designs available so this list showcases the five best selling designs for any occasion.

When it comes to selecting the perfect wedding ring sets, the best selling designs to consider include two very different styles. The first is more of a classic design and features a solitaire diamond engagement ring with a matching diamond band. This set is called the ‘Diamond Solitaire Studded Band Bridal Set’, style number MS119-6-shiny. The solitaire is offered in many different sizes so customization is easy. This wedding set appeals to traditional, modern brides. The second is a vintage inspired wedding set called the ‘Vintage Glamour Diamond Bridal Set’, style number MS143.

After a wedding comes an anniversary. The top rated anniversary rings include a traditional eternity style ring called the ‘Everlasting Love Four Prong Diamond Eternity Ring’ style number EB1003. Brilliant round diamonds are prong set around the ring, revealing the beauty of the stones. The second popular design is a channel set ring with princess cut diamonds. Another modern ring, the ‘Channel Set Princess Diamond Eternity Band’ style number EB1006, rates well with consumers because of its flawless, clean design. Princess cut diamonds, with their square shape, pick up the light rather well. A channel setting keeps the diamonds secure while complementing their unique shape.

The last jewelry design with five star reviews is the ‘Must Have Diamond Hoop Earrings’ style number SE35. These essential diamond hoops have a prong setting and are offered in four different sizes. Diamond earrings like these work well with any outfit and occasion which is partially why they remain so high in popularity. There is always an occasion to wear a pair of hoop earrings to.

All of these best selling designs can be viewed and customized on the website.
