Meagan Good isn’t rushing to the altar – but she also has wedding planning on her mind.

“I think when you really find the right person you just know,” the Think Like a Man star told PEOPLE of her preacher and producer fiancé DeVon Franklin. “There is no point in waiting – waiting for what?”

Though she wouldn’t divulge exactly when or where the nuptials will be, Good, 30, said planning is coming along nicely, although the wedding is turning out bigger than she wants it to be.

“I wanted to go for an enchanted feeling,” she said. “I wanted fireflies and a bayou type of feel and I think we’re achieving that,” she said, referencing Twilight and the animated film Fern Gully as specific inspirations.

Before saying “I do,” Good celebrated with a bachelorette party on Friday in Las Vegas.

Considering she’s marrying a preacher, one may think it would be a tamed down affair. Not so. Good went the opposite route, putting on a burlesque performance at Las Vegas’s Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Saloon. In attendance: her future mother-in-law!

“I don’t think there is anything wrong with being sexy or cheeky or funny,” she said. “I don’t know how some church folk are going to be, but at the end of the day it’s between me and God and my husband.”

Fun, formal and beyond: what the groom wears – Las Vegas Review

When you think of a wedding, you probably think of the bride’s dress, the flower arrangements, the food and the music. But what about the groom? More specifically, what about the groom’s attire? It’s his special day, too. So it’s time to devote some attention to him.

Think back to all the weddings of decades past. What was the groom wearing as he watched his bride walk down the aisle? Most weddings were formal occasions and the tuxedo ruled the day.

But times have changed. One of the reasons for this shift could be the economy says Jane Carlton Hall, Fashion Design instructor at The Art Institute of Houston. “When it’s time to find a place to cut costs when planning your wedding in this economy, a formal tux is one place couples start,” she says. Hall points out that even if the groom springs for a new suit, it’ll be something he can wear again and again.

But other factors also come into play. “Now people are much more creative, with destination weddings and dude ranch weddings, which are popular here in Arizona, and the attire matches the location,” says Elizabeth Heuisler, academic director for Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing at The Art Institute of Tucson. She advises that grooms still lay out some cash for a new pair of jeans if they wind up saying their “I dos” at a dude ranch.

Cyndy McCoy, a Fashion Retail Management instructor at The Art Institute of Fort Worth, a campus of South University adds, “A nice light colored shirt with linen pants and sandals or even barefoot works very well for the groom at a beach wedding.”

And even if you are taking a more traditional route and planning a formal evening wedding, you don’t necessarily need a tux. “Nothing dictates that you have to wear a tux,” says McCoy. “A nice black suit works quite well.” Hall advises that even if you don’t necessarily plan on wearing a tux, a formalwear store is a good place to go for ideas and advice about current trends.

Hall says the recent royal wedding in Britain reminds us that classic looks are always in style. McCoy echoes, “You can never go wrong with the classics.”

But according to Hall, when all is said and done, the special day is still about the bride. “In my opinion, the groom should dress in the same way that a museum frames a beautiful painting, so as not to detract from the bride.”

From Those Who Brought You the MineCon Proposal, Here’s the Minecraft Wedding

From Those Who Brought You the MineCon Proposal, Here's the Minecraft WeddingRemember the Minecraft-playing couple who got engaged at MineCon back in November? Well, yes, they have now been lawfully wed and kissed and no man put asunder and all that goes along with the big day—including an outstanding Minecraft-themed throwdown for the reception. Chickens, sheep, a creeper, everything.

The Minecraft theme wasn’t limited to just the reception. The bride, Asia, wore a Minecraft “diamond” necklace down the aisle, which is a brilliant touch. You can see it in that image above. The groom Matt (longtime Kotaku reader smi1ey) and his groomsmen all wore ties in a low-res Minecraft pattern.

From Those Who Brought You the MineCon Proposal, Here's the Minecraft Wedding Loads more pictures from their wedding album are at the link; their friends at TheGoodness.com produced this charming video of the big day. Craft a hankie, it’ll get a little dusty.

Update: Smi1ey has a few more details and thank-yous to offer: The wedding was on April 22. The necklace was Asia’s idea. The couple also wishes to thank Greg Aronowitz, who loaned them his Minecraft statues, and Jones Soda, which supplied the soft drinks at the reception—with Minecraft-themed labels (designed by Jnkboy)—for free.

“The whole wedding was a culmination of a ton of people working and being really awesome,” says Smi1ey. “Of course, Lydia Winters was the one who really hooked it up originally by letting me do the proposal! [at MineCon].”

Facebook Founder’s Bride Likes Claire Pettibone Wedding Dress

Priscilla Chan, Mark Zuckerberg

According to David Fincher’s The Social Network, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg alienated people so effectively that even as a billion-dollar success, the most meaningful contact he made with women was accepting his online friend requests.

But real life tells a decidedly different story: Zuckerberg maintained a long-term relationship with fellow Harvard alumna Priscilla Chan, whom he married Saturday in the back yard of the Palo Alto, Calif. home which the two of them share.

PHOTOS: Royal Wedding Style

Meanwhile, Chan’s presence in his life was equally understated offscreen – that is, until Saturday, when she — and her wedding dress — became overnight sensations.

Called “Sky Between the Branches,” the tank-style design has a high lace neckline in the front and a low-cut back, and is assembled from matte sequins on embroidered lace over silk charmeuse with a mermaid silhouette. According to The Daily Beast, Chan used a remarkable amount of subterfuge to find and then acquire the Claire Pettibone gown which she wore at the wedding ceremony: At a relatively modest cost of $4,700, Chan obtained the dress after flying to Denver to shop for designs, and then had a friend pretending to be her assistant pay for it.

Conversely, the designer is thrilled about the subsequent publicity attracted by her wearing the dress – although she confessed that she would have done anything Chan asked, if only she’d known.

“She could have come to me and I would have done anything for her,” Pettibone says. “But instead she decided to make her own choice under the radar.”

Pettibone has been designing dresses since 1994, but this is by far her highest-profile sale to date – although she didn’t know it until afterward. After Pettibone’s husband saw Chan wearing the dress in news reports about the wedding, they scoured corporate records until they found an order placed by “Priscilla Tuan” at Little White Dress in Denver. (Despite speculation that the wedding was planned around the release of Facebook’s initial public offering, Chan ordered the dress in October of last year, before the IPO date was set, with the May wedding date on the order form.)

Pettibone has already seen a boost in her business since news came of Chan’s purchase: she says that representatives from 14 boutiques worldwide have contacted her about carrying the dress. “There is nothing like a celebrity bride to lift your profile,” Pettibone told the New York Times on Friday.

Despite the newfound attention, Pettibone indicated that Chan was not significantly different than her typical clientele. “I think aside from the marrying-the-billionaire part, [Chan] is typical of the brides that are drawn to my collection: she’s smart, educated, and making her own choices.”

The Wedding Planner

We talk weddings, bridezillas and Egyptian tombs with the most sought-after wedding stylist in the city today, Dinaz Noria

What’s keeping you busy at the moment?

The wedding season’s up ahead, so things are getting busy. I’m working on a couple of big projects, one in Sri Lanka and of course, the other one is here (Ram Charan and Upasana’s we hear). So this month is going to be a lot of prepping.

Do you still remember your first assignment?

Of course. It was over a decade ago. I had done the storefront display for the Mussadilal group which they liked. So they came back and asked me to replicate that as a backdrop for a wedding. And so it began.

Since then, how much has changed?

Over 14 years, the scene has changed exponentially. The most notable change is that the South Indian weddings have come of age. Where there was once just a phoolwallah, bandwallah and a mandap, now there is a huge market. People have become more involved and more socially conscious.

Yes, the South Indian wedding have also assumed the shape and scale of the great Indian (Punjabi) wedding, hasn’t it?

Absolutely. But it’s still not as exuberant or showy. The South has different sensibilities. They are more nature-oriented, classy and understated.

Any bridezillas along the way?

I’ve planned weddings for a number of gorgeous ladies, some demanding, others not so much. But never anyone who was, you know, an unpleasant cow (laughs). But generally, NRI brides are very conscious and more particular whereas brides here are more relaxed, they leave it to us to do the best.

What is theme of the season?

Without a doubt, destination weddings. More and more people are realising its a lot of fun. There’s no agenda expect for you and your guests to enjoy yourselves while the rest is taken care of. With close family and friends, they make for great memories. Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia are trending.

Did you ever imagine that you’d be here today, as one of the most sought-after wedding planners in the city, if not the country?

Never, ever, ever, ever. I didn’t think I had a single creative bone in my body. But of course, I had an extremely fertile imagination even then.

Any regrets?

None. It has been a great, great journey. I’ve learned so much. I’m living my passion, so doesn’t feel like it has been that long. If you can consider it a regret, it is not having the time to develop a hobby.

What about your job do you enjoy the most?

I think I enjoy the ideation part, that is, the creative process. I’ll be sitting in an airport lobby somewhere, dreaming up something, probably making a silly sketch. One month later, I’ll see it happen. It’s a tremendous high.

Has there ever been a difference of interests between your clients and your creative sensibilities?

I take up clients based on availability and if we have similar sensibilities. Because sometimes, I do get some unusual requests. At the peak of the themed weddings season, for example, I had one prospective client want me to design a mandap after the Egyptian Pyramids, like the tombs! It was ludicrous. Similarly, there was one who wanted a cricket pitch! Thankfully, those are few and far in between. I have been lucky in that most of my clients leave it me to do what’s best.

What are the things you should know if you are venturing into wedding planning as a career option?

It’s a great option. But kids today are taken in by managing academics, who equip them with no useful skills. No two weddings are alike, so most of the learning happens on the floor. You need unbelievable reserves of energy, ability to weather anything, face unusual challenges and think laterally. And most importantly, you should be able to handle people.

Brides are supposed to wear something blue to symbolize love, modesty and fidelity on their wedding day, but they aren’t the only ones who can wear a shade of blue to a wedding. Guests will easily find a variety of the hue in clothing, shoes and jewelry that will add brightness to the happy occasion.

Since it is almost June and there will be weddings every weekend, I shopped for something blue. It was an easy task, because blue is available from very light to dark and when mixed with green it creates hues from aqua to turquoise. Here in Southwest Florida, blue matches the color of the sky to the shades of the Gulf.

But please be warned you shouldn’t try to compete with the bride.

Thinking about the Gulf, I couldn’t resist the bathing cap purse ($40) from Raspberryjam Design at Random Acts of Art. This novel handbag is sure to get attention especially if you are attending a beach wedding. This store also had a variety of blue jewelry that would be your go-to pieces for quite a long time. The 18K vermeil over sterling silver necklace with a mystic blue topaz ($276) will bring any outfit up a notch. Change off from white pearls to blue ones to make a statement, and the long freshwater necklace ($63) or the rock crystal and freshwater pearls on a chain ($170) are sure to be admired. If you wear earrings you will have fun choosing between the coin pearls adored with crystal and sterling silver ($40) or light blue pearl studs ($18 and up).

Julie’s is the place to find a summer dress in any color. The blue-tiered dress by Click ($139) will look good at a wedding or out to dinner any day of the year. If air-conditioning has you shivering, add a scarf by Click ($33). The Czech glass Z wire necklace ($74.95) is a great addition to the dress and if you buy a necklace you get the earrings half off.

Pratt Shoes has comfortable footwear to help you dance the night away and still be in style. Toscan Ella has a cork wedge ($50) that will add sparkle to your outfit. A crisscross thong cork wedge ($52) will have you thinking you wore your slippers to the wedding.

If you want a deep blue color, get the Donald Pliner suede ankle strap heels ($235) in a glorious royal blue. These will be the shoes you can wear to watch Queen Elizabeth’s diamond jubilee. You can’t get any more royal than this color. The last blue one I found at this store was the Luisa D’Orio turquoise thongsandal ($85) that can also be worn during the day.

Weddings are fun whatever color you or the bride wear.

Ike likes it

Ike is always on the lookout for a low-calorie snack and found something he liked at the Fresh Market.

The verdict: I spotted Skinny Pop Popcorn ($3.99, 4.4 oz bag) while shopping at the Fresh Market. Checking the ingredients I learned it is cholesterol-free, has zero trans fats and only 39 calories per cup. Hoping it would be a good tasting, healthful snack I bought it. It passed the taste test and is now on the top of my list of healthful snacks, and the first thing I grab when watching baseball games on television this summer.
