Avril’s Nickelback fiancé Chad Kroeger checked in with Guilty Pleasures over the weekend to give us a nuptial update after he popped the question just six months into dating the 27-year-old Sk8er Boi divorcee.

‘We have started planning the big day,’ the 37-year-old rocker told me.

The How You Remind Me singer said he’s also setting up his own stag do to make sure he doesn’t get in trouble with his missus.

‘I am planning a big bachelor party and my band are invited,’ he said.

On their rock’n’roll life, the Canadian said they ‘try to keep things out of the newspapers and off the internet as much as we can’.

‘We try to do it privately when we get out of control. It’s in a controlled environment when it’s out of control,’ he revealed.

Married to his band for 16 years, Chad says the secret to longevity is less is more.

‘We travel separately on the road. So were are very rarely with each other,’ he admitted.

‘We have our own tour buses. The only time we see each other is during meet and greets and a few minutes  before the shows. So there’s always this big catch-up period. When you never get to see your band members, you end up missing them.’

His group are on their way to our shores to rock the nation and say they have been bowled over by our own music scene… even One Direction.

‘Coldplay would definitely be at the top of the list. I am a huge Coldplay fan. I find them very inspirational,’ he said.

As for teeny boppers 1-D?

‘They’ve exploded,’ said the star. ‘I don’t really know their music but I know my band members’ children are fans of their music. Oh my God, I never thought I would say that f***ing phrase in my life!’

And in a parting gift of advice, he said if the boys are to be in it for the long haul they should ‘slowly cut your hair’.
